A user can define groups, and add other users to them.

The owner of an item can assign, as part of the per-item metadata, one or more groups per item. (Alternatively, groups could be implemented as special lists, but that seems like too much overloading of API and UI)

Everyone in a group has the same rights as the user that created it, with regards to

• finding the items (when hidden)
• editing the items' metadata
• editing, within the group's items, each other's annotations
• deleting the items
• managing the group
