Creating a release

How to make a new release
|
|
-------------------------
|
|
|
|
Get a fresh copy::
|
|
|
|
$ git clone git@github.com:django-extensions/django-extensions.git
|
|
$ cd django-extensions
|
|
|
|
Run tests::
|
|
|
|
$ python run_tests.py
|
|
|
|
Change version numbers in django_extensions/__init__.py and docs/conf.py::
|
|
|
|
$ vi django_extensions/__init__.py (1 occurance)
|
|
$ vi docs/conf.py (2 occurances)
|
|
$ git commit -a -m v0.4.1
|
|
|
|
Tag it::
|
|
|
|
$ git tag 0.4.1
|
|
|
|
Prepare the release tarball::
|
|
|
|
$ python ./setup.py sdist
|
|
|
|
Upload release to pypi::
|
|
|
|
$ python ./setup.py register
|
|
$ python ./setup.py sdist upload -s
|
|
|
|
Upload new documentation to pypi::
|
|
|
|
$ cd docs
|
|
$ make html
|
|
$ cd _build/html
|
|
$ zip -r9v ../django_extensions_docs.zip *
|
|
|
|
Now goto http://pypi.python.org, login and edit the django_extensions package.
|
|
At the bottom of the page your can upload documentation. Click browse, select
|
|
the zip file and hit "Upload Documentation".
|
|
|
|
Bumb version number to new in-development pre version::
|
|
|
|
$ vi django_extensions/__init__.py
|
|
$ git commit -a -m 'bumped version number'
|
|
|
|
Push changes back to github::
|
|
|
|
$ git push --tags
|
|
$ git push
|
|
|
