on clearing search text box in video timeline view, the selections on timeline go away, but yellow box on selected text remains.

This can't be fixed by special-casing empty string. That creates other inconsistencies. The as-you-type highlighting on the left side and the once-you-submit highlighting on the right side are generally not in sync. The actual bug here might be that they should be in sync.
