Deleted entity tags reportedly reappear when switching "Show Annotations" mode #2755

I've had reports that switching Show Annotations between All, In Current Selection, and At Current Position can make entity annotations you've just deleted reappear in the UI. As described to me:

  1. Open the editor
  2. Select an entity annotation
  3. Press ⌦: the annotation is removed in the UI
  4. Change to a different Show Annotations mode which would still have shown the annotation you deleted (maybe Current PositionCurrent Selection)

Expected: the annotation is still not visible
Actual: the annotation reappears; but if you refresh the page, it disappears again.

I couldn't reproduce this but people swear that it happens. Is there any local caching which could cause this?
